Indigenous oil and gas company, Ingentia Energies Limited, has announced the appointment of seasoned industry professional, Engr. Victor Agbaroji, as its new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026, with a commitment to consolidate existing achievements and drive the company into a new phase of growth.
The unveiling ceremony, which held in Lagos, on Tuesday marked the formal transition of leadership from the outgoing Interim Managing Director, Engr. Charles Odita, who successfully steered the company over the past six months. Speaking during the event, Engr. Odita described his tenure from March to August 2026 as an exciting and productive period during which the company recorded significant milestones.
He said: “It is my privilege today to hand over the affairs of Ingentia Energies Limited to the incoming Managing Director, Engr. Victor Agbaroji. The company has achieved a lot within the last six months, it is our desire that the new Managing Director will take us to the next level and I am confident that as an industry veteran, he would “hit the ground running” and accelerate the company’s growth trajectory.’’
In his acceptance remarks, Engr. Agbaroji paid tribute to the achievements recorded under Odita’s leadership and pledged to build on the solid foundation already established. “Our immediate focus is to consolidate and sustain the gains we have made. Ingentia Energies has set the pace among its peers in growing the company since the acquisition of its licence, and we intend to maintain that momentum holding in high esteem our company’s greatest assets-people, and taking into recognition the importance of safety, talent development, innovation and cost competitiveness. IEL will ensure that our people work safely and return home to their loved ones every day. At the same time, we will continue to develop talents, improve efficiency, embrace innovative ways of creating value, and deliver strong returns to our shareholders and stakeholders while affirming our commitment to supporting Nigeria’s energy aspirations, including the national target of increasing crude oil production to three million barrels per day,” he said.
“Engr. Agbaroji brings over 31 years of extensive experience spanning the entire oil and gas value chain. He began his career as a well test engineer, working across several fields before joining Shell as a Reservoir Engineer. During his distinguished career, he held key positions in operations engineering, corporate petroleum engineering, corporate planning and economics, where he contributed to portfolio optimisation initiatives that supported the emergence of Nigeria’s indigenous marginal field operators.
“He also served as Front-End Development Manager for major gas projects, including gas supply initiatives for fertilizer production. At the global level, Agbaroji was Global Operations Manager for Reserves Reporting across the Shell Group, overseeing activities spanning Asia, Europe, Australia and North America. He later transitioned to Nigeria’s independent oil sector, bringing international best practices into indigenous operations.
“Before his appointment at Ingentia Energies, he led technical advisory, risk management and project delivery support services for emerging energy companies. Industry stakeholders at the event expressed confidence that Agbaroji’s vast technical, commercial and strategic experience would position Ingentia Energies for sustained growth and greater contributions to Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape,” a statement later from Ingentia Energies explained.
