ABUJA — The Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Kogi State, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, will deliver the keynote paper as Guest Speaker at the Democracy Newsline Newspaper 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame, with the theme: “Economic Reform and Sustainable Development development in a Democracy, the Nigeria Experience”
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 5:00pm at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
According to the Board, Management and Staff of Democracy Newsline Newspaper, Asiwaju Asiru Idris was selected for his track record in fiscal discipline, economic planning, and transparent governance in Kogi State. As a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, FCA, he has been credited with driving reforms that have improved internally generated revenue and budget implementation in the state.
Speaking on the choice of theme and speaker, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said the annual lecture was designed to spotlight leaders who are making tangible impact in governance and public service.
“Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris represents a new breed of technocratic leadership. His paper is expected to focus on prudent resource management and the role of accountable governance in national development,” Chief Femi said.
The Public Lecture will be followed by the induction of distinguished Nigerians into the Good Governance Hall of Fame for their contributions to nation building.
Chairperson of the occasion is Chief (Mrs) Moji Makanjuola, Veteran Broadcaster.
Special Guest of Honour is Hon Mohammed Idris, Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
