Power Boost: Governor Otu Deploys Transformers to two Cross River Communities

 

In a move to end prolonged power outages, Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has approved the immediate deployment of transformers to two communities in Calabar South and Akpabuyo Local Government Areas.

The affected areas are Palm Street Extension by Efio Ene in Calabar South and Maternity by Ikot Offiong Ambai in Atimbo East, Akpabuyo.

The intervention is part of the Otu administration’s drive to expand electricity access and stimulate economic activities across underserved communities in the state.

Speaking on the approval, the Director General of the Cross River State Electrification Agency, Mr. Francis Ekpo, said reliable power remains central to the governor’s “People First” agenda.

Mr. Ekpo stated that Governor Otu is committed to ensuring that no community is left in darkness, as improved power supply is critical to businesses, security, and the wellbeing of the people.

Stressing that the transformers belong to the people, he implored community leaders and youths to protect them from vandalism to enable the inhabitants enjoy uninterrupted power.

On his part, the Network Manager of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED, Mr. Thomas Udo, assured that power supply will be restored to both communities immediately after installation is completed.

Residents of the benefiting communities have welcomed the development, describing it as a major relief for households and small businesses that have endured prolonged power outages.
