Provost Reaffirms Commitment to Academic Excellence, Quality Health Education at College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah

The Provost of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah, Kogi State, Sanitarian Umar Anataku Shaibu, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting academic discipline and upholding the highest standards of health education and professional practice at the institution.

Shaibu made the commitment during an exclusive interview with our correspondent in his office. He said his administration is focused on improving academic standards while sustaining the College’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions for health sciences and technology education.

According to the Provost, although he has served as the substantive Provost for about three months, he previously held the position in an acting capacity for nearly two years. He noted that the College has recorded significant achievements during this period.

Among the institution’s major accomplishments, Shaibu highlighted the approval granted for the mobilization of the College’s graduates for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. He described the development as a historic milestone, coming nearly four decades after the establishment of the institution.

He also disclosed that the College has secured accreditation for more than ten academic programmes from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). According to him, the achievement reflects his administration’s commitment to enhancing academic quality and strengthening the institution’s reputation.

Shaibu assured staff, students, and other stakeholders that his administration would continue to implement policies aimed at promoting academic excellence, institutional development, and the training of highly skilled health professionals.

He reiterated his determination to ensure that the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah, remains one of Nigeria’s most sought-after institutions for the training of public and community health professionals.
