A LEADER WHO CAN’T MENTION YOUR NAME IN A ROOM FULL OF OPPORTUNITIES DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR LOYALTY. HON. OMOLUABI BODE ADEYEMI IS FOREVER MY LEADER.e,i.

17th July, 2026
Some leaders act in pretence, and some leaders act with intention. The former perform loyalty in public and forget your name behind closed doors. The latter, I mean the rare ones, sacrifice their time, their influence, and even their political capital, quietly, without needing applause. Hon. Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi belongs to a rare class of leaders whose actions speak louder than any public display of affection could ever do.
It all happened with an ordinary phone call. I was in my room, lost in thought about the uncertainties of the day, my mind wandering through the usual worries that come with waiting for tomorrow, when suddenly, my phone rang. It was my helper, my benefactor, my leader, Hon. Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi himself. No long speech, no formality; just a simple instruction, delivered with the warmth only he could give: *”Go to the SSG’s office and collect your appointment letter.”* For a moment, I sat in silence, overwhelmed, as the weight of his words settled in. In that one call was the weight of months, perhaps years, of quiet advocacy on my behalf. It was in that moment I understood that somewhere, in rooms I was never present in, my name had been spoken with confidence and conviction by a man who had every reason to remain silent, yet chose to speak up.
That is the true test of leadership, not the titles one holds, but the doors one opens for others when no one is watching, and the sacrifices one makes when no camera is present to capture it. Hon. Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi facilitated my appointment as Local Government Special Assistant not out of obligation, but because he genuinely and intentionally wants the best for those under his wing. He recommended me. He vouched for me. He staked his reputation on my ability. And when the letter was ready, he didn’t send an aide, he called me himself, humbly, to deliver the news that would change my story.
This is what separates pretenders from true leaders. A pretender smiles for the cameras but forgets you when it matters. An intentional leader carries you in his heart even in your absence, negotiates for you in boardrooms you’ll never enter, and defends your capability before people who may never know your name. Hon. Adeyemi has done all of this for me: sacrificing his time, his voice, and his political goodwill, and for that, my gratitude knows no bounds.
Sir, I have watched you build people quietly, without seeking applause, unlike many who wear leadership as a costume. I have seen how you treat mentorship not as a transaction, but as a genuine calling. Today, I am a direct beneficiary of that calling, and I do not take it for granted.
Sir, as you have lifted me, may the Almighty God lift you higher still. May the same hands that opened doors for me never lack open doors of their own. May your name continue to carry weight and honour in every room you walk into, and in rooms you’ll never step foot in. May God grant you long life, sound health, and the strength to keep raising others as you have raised me. May your sacrifices never go unrewarded, and may loyalty and goodwill always find their way back to you, multiplied.
Sir, I remain forever grateful. I remain forever loyal. I remain, without hesitation, your grateful mentee.
Thank you, Hon. Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi. Forever my leader.
