By joshua Honouring His Father’s Legacy: OJN Names Foundation Secretariat Chief Joshua O. Nihi House
As part of activities marking my 38th birthday, alongside the OJN Football Talent Tournament and the 7th OJN Annual Symposium, I made a deeply personal decision—to name the OJN Foundation Secretariat Building after my late father, Chief Joshua Olorundare Nihi.
This is my own little way of immortalising a man whose life, values, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment to family and community continue to inspire me every single day.
My father passed on Wednesday, 12th November, 2014. More than a decade later, not a day goes by without memories of his wisdom, discipline, simplicity, and the principles he instilled in us. Though he is no longer physically with us, his influence remains alive in the choices I make and in the life of service to which I have dedicated myself.
I still remember the tribute I wrote the day after his passing, published by Kogi Report under the title, “Tribute to Late Chief J. O. Nihi.” Reading those words today reminds me that while time may ease the pain of loss, it never diminishes the impact of a good father.
The OJN Foundation was built on the values that my father embodied—integrity, compassion, hard work, selfless service, and an unwavering belief in empowering others. It is therefore only fitting that the building which serves as the heartbeat of this vision bears his name.
From today, this edifice will stand not just as the headquarters of the OJN Foundation, but also as a lasting reminder that true greatness is measured by the lives we touch and the legacy we leave behind.
To my late father, Chief Joshua Olorundare Nihi, thank you for giving me a foundation upon which I continue to build. Your name will forever be etched not only on this building but also in the hearts of all those whose lives will be transformed through the work of the OJN Foundation.
May your gentle soul continue to rest in perfect peace. Your legacy lives on.
