By joshua Maigari of Lokoja Urges Afemai Community To Sustain Peace, Says Late Onogie Dangana Lived For Unity
The Maigari of Lokoja, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, has called on the Afemai Community in Lokoja to sustain their support for constituted authorities, saying the Late Onogie Afemai, Alhaji Z.A. Dangana, lived his life propagating peaceful coexistence.
The Traditional Ruler made the remarks on Monday when he received a delegation of the Afemai Community in Lokoja, led by the Chairman, Afemai People’s Progressive Union, Mr. Abu Michael.
The delegation paid glowing tribute to the Maigari for his support and encouragement to the community following the demise of the Late Onogie Afemai, who passed away on 6/6/26.
Describing the late leader, the Maigari said Alhaji Dangana was a lover of growth and development in Lokoja, “paid the supreme price in ensuring peaceful coexistence.”
“Growing up, I could vividly recall the efforts of the Late Onogie as one of the earliest entrepreneurs and businessmen passionate about the growth of Lokoja,” the Maigari said. “His ideals are encapsulated in peaceful coexistence, building bridges of unity. He lived beyond ethnic and religious barriers.”
He urged the Afemai Community to immortalize the late Onogie’s philosophy by continuing to live peacefully. He also disclosed that the Lokoja Traditional Council will, after thorough consultation, fill the vacant stool of the Onogie in no distant time, noting that the title has helped in galvanizing the people for development.
Earlier in his remarks, the Afemai Progressive Union Chairman, Mr. Abu Michael, lauded the invaluable support and encouragement extended to the community during the period of mourning.
He commended the leadership qualities of the Maigari, saying his reign has witnessed “growth and development in leaps and bounds,” and described the peaceful coexistence entrenched under the Traditional Ruler as commendable.
Mr. Michael further appealed to the Traditional Council to consider filling the vacuum created by the death of the Late Onogie, stressing that his leadership served as a rallying point, galvanized the Afemai people for development.
