Your Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo
I write to you not as a political opponent, but as a concerned citizen of Kogi State and a proud son of Kogi East who believes that democracy is strengthened when leaders remain accountable to the people they serve.
Your emergence as Governor brought renewed hope to many Kogites, particularly young people who saw in you the energy, vision, and capacity to consolidate on past gains while delivering greater prosperity across our state. With that hope came expectations, and with public office comes the responsibility to account for the stewardship of public resources.
As citizens, we respectfully request that you present a comprehensive account of the state-funded projects executed by your administration since assuming office. This request is neither unreasonable nor politically motivated. It is a legitimate demand rooted in the principles of transparency, accountability, and democratic governance.
Kogi State has benefited from significantly improved federal allocations under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Naturally, citizens expect that these increased resources will translate into visible development across all three senatorial districts through quality infrastructure, improved healthcare, better schools, rural development, economic opportunities, and modern public facilities.
Governance is measured not by the payment of salaries alone. Paying workers their salaries is a legal and moral obligation of government, not an extraordinary achievement. Likewise, distributing palliatives may provide temporary relief to struggling families, but such interventions cannot replace sustainable development driven by strategic investments and impactful public projects.
Development is what people can see, use, and benefit from. It is reflected in roads that connect communities, hospitals that save lives, schools that prepare children for the future, water projects that improve public health, agricultural initiatives that empower farmers, industries that create jobs, and infrastructure that stimulates economic growth.
It is also important to distinguish between projects funded by the State Government and those executed by the Federal Government. For example, the proposed Army Barracks in Kogi East is a Federal Government project and should rightly be acknowledged as such. While your administration may have facilitated or supported its location, it should not be presented as a state-funded achievement.
Your Excellency, this brings us to the central question:
What major state-funded projects has your administration completed or substantially executed across Kogi State, particularly in Kogi East, that demonstrate prudent management of public resources and justify renewed public confidence ahead of the 2027 general election?
This question deserves a clear, factual, and comprehensive answer.
Kogi East is blessed with enormous human and natural potential, yet many communities continue to face poor road networks, inadequate healthcare facilities, insufficient educational infrastructure, youth unemployment, unreliable electricity, limited access to clean water, and other developmental challenges. The people deserve to see measurable progress that reflects the resources available to the state.
Your Excellency, you are widely regarded as a young, energetic, vibrant, and forward-looking leader. History has presented you with a unique opportunity to define your own legacy. The greatest leaders are remembered not for political speeches or public relations campaigns, but for the lasting institutions and transformational projects they leave behind.
The people are eager to witness landmark projects commissioned under your administration—projects that will endure for generations and stand as enduring evidence of purposeful leadership.
This letter should not be interpreted as an attack on your person or your administration. Constructive criticism and public scrutiny are essential pillars of every healthy democracy. Asking questions about public expenditure is not an act of hostility; it is an expression of responsible citizenship.
Leadership flourishes where there is openness. Public trust grows where there is accountability. Confidence is earned when government demonstrates, with evidence, how public resources have been invested for the common good.
Your Excellency, the people of Kogi State deserve more than assurances—they deserve evidence. They deserve to see, hear, and evaluate the projects their resources have funded. They deserve a government that welcomes accountability as a mark of strength rather than criticism.
We therefore respectfully urge you to present a detailed account of your administration’s state-funded achievements, district by district and sector by sector, so that every citizen can fairly assess the progress made and the work that still lies ahead.
May your administration be remembered not merely for promises made, but for promises fulfilled and a legacy of transformational development across every part of Kogi State.
