By joshua Widows, Women Traders Receive Support As Qs Aminu Holds Empowerment Engagement In Anyigba
Women from across the nine Local Government Areas of Kogi East gathered in Anyigba on Tuesday for an empowerment engagement facilitated by QS Aminu Abubakar Suleiman, FNIQS, as part of his grassroots support initiative for widows and selected women traders.
The event, held at Anyigba Hotel, drew community leaders, women groups, youth organizations, political stakeholders, party faithful, and supporters from across the senatorial district.
The programme was focused on providing support to widows and small-scale women traders whose daily businesses sustain families and strengthen local communities.
In her remarks, Rose Matthew, ADC Kogi East Zonal Woman Leader, described the initiative as timely and people-centered. “For many women here today, this support represents encouragement, hope, and recognition. Women remain the backbone of many homes and local businesses across Kogi East. When you empower a woman, you strengthen a family and the wider community,” she said.
Zekeri Ohiemi, Campaign Coordinator for QS Aminu, said the engagement reflects a leadership approach rooted in consistency and direct connection with the people. “This is not about political ceremony. It is about maintaining a long-standing relationship with the grassroots. QS Aminu believes leadership must be visible in the lives of ordinary people, especially during difficult economic times,” he stated.
Ahmedi Attah, QS Aminu Youth Mobilizer, emphasized the importance of sustaining community-based interventions capable of reducing hardship and promoting inclusion. “Youths and women are critical to the future of Kogi East. Programmes like this help restore confidence among the people and remind vulnerable groups that they are not forgotten,” he said.
Umar Olachene, who also spoke at the event, commended the peaceful conduct and broad participation. “What we are seeing here today is unity, compassion, and community participation. It shows that people still believe in leadership that identifies with the struggles of the people and responds in practical ways,” he noted.
Also present were AY Baba, APC women local government and ward coordinators, QS Aminu women local government campaign coordinators, youths, and party supporters who attended in solidarity with the beneficiaries.
Participants expressed appreciation for the outreach, describing it as timely and encouraging amid prevailing economic realities. The Anyigba engagement reinforces ongoing conversations around community support, inclusive participation, and the role of grassroots initiatives in strengthening social welfare across Kogi East.
