Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba has announced sweeping new security measures across campus following an “unfortunate security breach” on Thursday, June 11, 2026. The University Management Committee took the decisions at its 401st Regular Meeting held on Monday, June 15, 2026, as it moves to restore safety and order for students, staff, and visitors.
In a notice signed by the Registrar, Mr. Siyaka Audu, and released through the Office of the Registrar, Management said the new directives take immediate effect “until further notice.” The measures affect students, staff, commercial riders, and visitors alike.
No student will be allowed into campus with a personal car or motorbike — including Haojue, TVS, and other “rubber-rubber” bikes. Tinted vehicles and cars with concealed number plates are also banned. Only registered vehicles will be permitted, and all vehicles must obtain a Vehicle Identification Tally from the Chief Security Officer. Losing the tally will attract a ₦5,000 fine. Staff with tinted vehicles must register them with the CSO if they have a valid tint permit.
The main gate is now the only entrance and exit for vehicles. Other gates remain open only for pedestrian movement. The CSO, Director of Physical Planning, and Director of Works and Maintenance have been directed to identify and block all illegal routes into campus.
The CSO will carry out comprehensive registration and identification of commercial bike riders in conjunction with union leaders. The Dean of Student Affairs, Public Relations Officer, and CSO will also engage the riders to enforce a strict 35km/h speed limit on campus. Management said it is also engaging solar-powered tricycle “Keke” operators to complement existing shuttles, with clearly demarcated bus stops.
With ID card issuance ongoing, all staff and students must visibly display their Identity Cards while on campus. Visitors will be properly identified and checked before entry. Cross body bags are banned from campus with immediate effect.
Management reaffirmed the ban on all unauthorized and social gatherings by students until further notice. It also warned that any department or student group that violates the ban on end-of-examination celebrations will have the exam written that day cancelled. The affected exam can only be re-written in the corresponding semester of the next session after payment of fresh school fees.
The notice stated that the Kogi State Government is currently providing CCTV and other security gadgets at various locations on campus to boost surveillance.
Management urged full cooperation with the 11-man committee set up to investigate both the remote and immediate causes of the June 11 breach. “While Management remain committed to the overall well being of staff, students and other stakeholders on the campus, we appeal to members of the University community for strict compliance of these directives in the best interest of all,” the Registrar stated.
The university community is expected to adjust to the new rules as Management prioritizes safety ahead of academic activities.
