By joshua DEMOCRACY DAY: KOGI PDP CHAIRMAN SANNI GAMBO URGES KOGITES TO KEEP HOPE ALIVE, SAYS PDP WILL REENACT TRUE MEANING OF DEMOCRACY
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kogi State Chapter, Alh. Muhammad Sanni Gambo, has congratulated Kogites and PDP members across the state on the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, urging them to “keep hope alive” in the face of current challenges.
In a Democracy Day message issued in Lokoja on Thursday, Gambo described June 12 as a symbol of sacrifice, resilience, and the Nigerian people’s unshakable belief in government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
The Kogi PDP chairman acknowledged the economic and security concerns facing citizens but assured that democracy remains the best path to development and justice.
“This Democracy Day, I urge all Kogites and PDP members to keep hope alive. No matter how tough things appear today, democracy gives us the power to choose, to correct, and to rebuild,” Gambo stated.
He stressed that the PDP, both nationally and in Kogi State, remains committed to reenacting the true meaning of democracy: rule of law, respect for the people’s mandate, inclusiveness, and delivery of democratic dividends to the grassroots.
Gambo said Kogi PDP will serve as a reference point for issue-based politics, internal democracy, and people-centered governance. He noted that the party is repositioning its structures across the 21 LGAs and 239 wards to reconnect with the masses ahead of future elections.
“The PDP in Kogi will reenact the true meaning of democracy. We will return power to the people. Our focus is on agriculture, education, health, youth empowerment, and security — areas where government must deliver for the ordinary Kogite,” he added.
The chairman called on PDP members to remain united, disciplined, and active in their communities, while urging all Kogites to shun violence, thuggery, and divisive politics.
“Democracy thrives when citizens participate. I charge our youths, women, and elders to register, collect their PVCs, and hold leaders accountable. The future of Kogi belongs to all of us,” he said.
Gambo prayed for peace, prosperity, and stability in Kogi and Nigeria, and wished Muslims a blessed Juma’ah as the celebration coincides with Friday prayers.
The Peoples Democratic Party remains the main opposition in Kogi State, with structures across all 21 LGAs and a renewed focus on grassroots mobilization and accountability ahead of the 2027 general elections.
