I have been compelled to respond to a malicious, fabricated and utterly false statement currently being circulated in certain political circles, wherein I was falsely quoted as alleging that I told Hon. Suleiman Baba Ali that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to have said he had bought the Senate President Godwill Akpabio over and had concluded arrangements with the Senate President to prevent the return of the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District to the Senate.
Let me state categorically, unequivocally and without any ambiguity whatsoever that at no time did I make such a statement, nor did I have any discussion with Hon. Suleiman Baba Ali, Senator Sunday Karimi or any other person concerning such a matter. The allegation is a complete fabrication, concocted by desperate individuals whose stock in trade is misinformation, blackmail and political manipulation.
For the avoidance of doubt, the last occasion on which I, Hon. Suleiman Baba Ali and Senator Sunday Karimi were together was during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Speaker’s Lodge in Lokoja. Outside that gathering, no meeting, conversation or engagement took place where any such issue was discussed.
Furthermore, His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, has never at any time called me either privately or collectively to discuss Senator Karimi’s political future, nor has he sought my opinion on any matter relating to his senatorial ambition.
It is therefore both disappointing and reckless that Senator Karimi and members of his political camp would seek to drag my name, image and hard earned reputation into the murky waters of the political challenges confronting them. I reject in its entirety any attempt to use my person as a tool for advancing false narratives or creating imaginary enemies where none exist.
I wish to remind those behind this campaign of falsehood that politics should be conducted with decency, responsibility and respect for truth. Manufacturing lies and attributing fictitious statements to public officials is not only dishonourable but also a disservice to the unity and progress of our great party and state.
Let it also be clearly understood that I remain a proud product of the political ideology, leadership philosophy and mentorship of His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello, the undisputed leader and political architect of modern Kogi State. It is the same political family and school of thought that produced His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kogi State Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, My loyalty, commitment and allegiance to this political structure, its leadership and its ideals remain absolute, undiminished and non negotiable.
I therefore call on members of the public, leaders and stakeholders of the APC in Kogi State to disregard this falsehood and treat it with the contempt it deserves. Those responsible for this campaign of misinformation should immediately desist from dragging my person into their political battles and focus instead on engaging issues based on facts, performance and credibility.
Truth remains sacred, and no amount of propaganda can change the facts.
