Shade Let Her Rise Foundation Launches with Vocational, AI Skills Training for 20 Youths as Founder Marks 40th Birthday
The Founder of the Shade Let Her Rise Foundation, Mrs. Folashade Ajayi, has empowered over 20 youths with vocational and digital skills as part of activities marking her 40th birthday celebration.
The empowerment programme, which coincided with the official launch of the foundation, offered free training in bag making, baking, and Artificial Intelligence [AI]. Organizers said the initiative is aimed at promoting self-reliance and reducing unemployment among young people, with a long-term target of reaching at least 40 beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Ajayi stressed that skill acquisition is now essential in today’s economy. She urged young people to embrace empowerment opportunities as a pathway to financial independence and sustainable living.
“Skill acquisition is no longer optional in the 21st century. It is an essential tool for survival and economic growth. Young people must position themselves to learn practical and digital skills that can help them earn a living and contribute meaningfully to society,” she said.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the free training. One trainee recounted how she had previously sought to learn bag making elsewhere but could not afford the fees, and was denied the option to pay in installments. “Getting this opportunity for free through the Shade Let Her Rise Foundation is something I am truly grateful for,” she said.
Mrs. Ajayi also addressed misconceptions around vocational training, noting that some people discourage skill acquisition by insisting that miracles alone guarantee financial breakthroughs. She called on religious leaders to complement spiritual teachings with practical support by encouraging their congregations to acquire relevant skills.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of Challenged Parenthood Initiative commended the beneficiaries for taking steps toward self-development and self-sufficiency. She said youth empowerment remains one of the most effective ways to curb social vices and build a more productive society.
The Executive Director added that her organization is open to collaborating with initiatives like the Shade Let Her Rise Foundation to carry out sensitization programmes in religious centres and expand youth empowerment opportunities across communities.
The event drew guests, beneficiaries, and supporters who applauded the foundation’s commitment to youth development and community impact.
