The senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro, PhD, on Wednesday secured the senatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Senator Moro is seeking re-election to consolidate on the gains of his achievements so far and explore bigger opportunities for his senatorial district.

While addressing delegates drawn from the nine local government areas of Zone C at Leach Hotel, Otukpo, for the senatorial congress, the Benue State Chairman of the PDP, RT. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, said the party had earlier endorsed Senator Moro as its consensus senatorial candidate, stating that the Wednesday congress was to affirm his candidature. He said the senator deserved re-election, having performed creditably well, and urged party members to tell his story in all the nooks and crannies of Zone C.

The motion seeking the senator’s affirmation was moved by former deputy speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Chris Adaji, and seconded by another former deputy speaker, Rt. Hon. Edor Ogbole.

The Chairman of the committee for the Benue South Senatorial Congress, Chief (Dr) Ekpe Ogbu, congratulated Senator Moro on his emergence as PDP candidate for the 2027 senatorial election. He said the senator had contributed so much to the party and deserved the ticket.

Dr. Ogbu commended the orderliness of the delegates from across Benue South and urged them to keep faith with the party.

In his acceptance speech, Senator Moro expressed gratitude to members of the party for the honour done to him. He said as a founding member of the PDP, he would remain faithful and committed to the party, to continue to strengthen the party and contribute his own quota to its success at the polls.

While reeling out his numerous achievements to the admiration of the crowd, Senator Moro said he would do more if re-elected in 2027.

”This is what I have done. This is what I’m doing. This is what I will continue to do if re-elected in 2027,” he stated.

The senator’s achievements cover several establishment bills, motions and numerous legacy projects that range from bridges, roads, hospitals, school buildings, water provision, youths and women empowerment, to rural electrification. He said he was aware of naysayers’ report that he’s not doing anything for Zone C, but expressed confidence that communities that are beneficiaries of his projects know what he’s doing for them.

He thanked the party for considering him worthy of the ticket and promised to lead from the front to ensure victory for the PDP at all levels.

The congress was witnessed by INEC delegation from Makurdi, security personnel and several dignitaries.
