Kogi West Youth Vanguard Backs Senator Karimi for 2027 Senate Re-election

The Kogi State Youth Vanguard and Mass Movement for APC, KYVMMA, has endorsed Senator Sunday Steve Karimi for the Kogi West Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during a closed-door stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja attended by executive members and grassroots mobilizers from the seven local government areas in Kogi West.

According to the group’s president, Idris Yakubu Salihu, the decision followed weeks of consultations with youth groups across the district. He said the endorsement was based on Karimi’s performance since assuming office in 2023 and his alignment with the APC’s agenda.

“Senator Karimi has maintained visibility in his constituency and recognized the teeming youths and women in his constituency. For 2027, he remains our choice,” Salihu said.

He explained that the early endorsement was aimed at mobilizing support ahead of the party primaries.

“The youths and women are very ready to massively vote Senator Sunday Karimi during the primary process,” he added.

While noting that other aspirants were free to contest, Salihu said the group would mobilize support for Karimi at the primaries. He appealed to the national and Kogi State APC secretariats to adopt him as a consensus candidate or ensure a free, fair, and credible primary election.

Kogi West covers Lokoja, Kogi/Koton Karfe, Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, and Mopamuro LGAs. The district has remained competitive, with the APC, PDP, and SDP all maintaining significant support bases in recent elections.

Karimi won the Kogi West seat in 2023 on the APC platform. Since then, he has sponsored motions and bills focused on infrastructure, education, and security in the district.
