Beyero Alleges Constitutional Breach by APC Over Denial of Nomination Forms
A presidential aspirant under Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Lawal Beyero, has raised concerns over what he described as a breach of the party’s constitution following his alleged denial of access to its presidential nomination process.
Beyero claimed that
despite being a financially up-to-date member of the party, he was refused access to the expression of interest and nomination forms required to formally declare his ambition.
He questioned the basis of the decision, arguing that neither the APC constitution nor Nigeria’s Electoral Act stipulates additional financial conditions as a prerequisite for aspirants beyond standard membership obligations.
Describing the development as both a constitutional violation and a procedural irregularity, Beyero maintained that all eligible party members should be granted equal opportunity to participate in the nomination process.
The aspirant, however, struck a conciliatory tone, noting that he remains committed to resolving the issue internally.
He described the situation as a “family matter” and expressed readiness to engage party leadership in dialogue to seek clarification and an amicable resolution.
Beyero, who said he has been a loyal member of the APC since 2014, disclosed that he approached the Presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms Sales Desk at the Abuja Continental Hotel on Monday, May 4, 2026, where the incident allegedly occurred.
The development has raised fresh questions about internal democracy and transparency within political parties, particularly in the lead-up to major electoral contests.
Party officials are yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
