Legal Pressure Mounts As Defamation Suit Against Iguodala Adjourned Over Service Challenges

Proceedings in the alleged defamation suit filed against Jessica Iguodala have been adjourned by the Edo State High Court, sitting in Benin City, following her continued absence and failure to be served with court processes.
The case, marked B/167/2026 and bordering on alleged malicious character assassination of Elder Francis Omoruyi Oloton, came up for mention before Honourable Justice E.O. Ahaomoje at High Court No. 4.
At the sitting, counsel to the claimant, Samson R. Osagie, Esq., was present and indicated readiness to proceed.
However, the court was informed that all efforts to serve the defendant had so far proved unsuccessful.
Justice Ahaomoje subsequently adjourned the matter to June 16, 2026, for mention, granting the claimant’s legal team additional time to effect proper service on the defendant.
Meanwhile, Iguodala is facing a separate criminal prosecution at the Federal High Court, Court 1, Benin City, presided over by Honourable Justice Babatunde Quadri.
In the criminal matter, she is facing multiple charges and has allegedly failed to appear in court.
As a result, the court is scheduled to hear an application, May 6, 2026, seeking the attachment of her properties as a means of compelling her attendance.
The parallel proceedings in both the State and Federal High Courts underscore the growing legal challenges confronting the defendant, as efforts intensify to ensure her appearance before the courts.
