Abaji-Lokoja-Okene Road: Kogi Lawyer, Activist, Barr. Elukpo Seeks Info on Construction Progress from Federal Govt

… Threatens Legal Action Against Works Minister.

Barr. Julius Elukpo, Activist and a concerned citizen has written to the Federal Ministry of Works, Minister, demanding information on the construction of the Abaji-KotonKarfe-Lokoja-Okene road in Kogi State.

The letter, dated March 23, 2026, and signed by Elukpo of Elukpo and Co, cites the Freedom of Information Act 2011.

Barr. Elukpo said the road, which serves as a gateway from southern Nigeria to Abuja and the northern parts of the country, has been impassable for years, with commuters often spending nights stranded between Abaji and Lokoja.

Despite multiple contracts awarded to different contractors, he said the road remains in a deplorable state.

Barr. Elukpo’s letter highlights the struggles of passengers who spent two nights between Abaji and Lokoja during the 2025 Christmas season, a trend he Said has persisted since Abuja became the Federal Capital.

The activist is seeking information on the construction progress and urges the ministry to provide updates on the project’s status.

Barr. Elukpo threatens Legal Action if the Minister fails to within seven days provide him with the demanded questions.
