NAKOSS President Hosts Students’ Stakeholders in Mopamuro, Charts Way Forward for Student Development
Mopa, Kogi State – 7th March 2026:
Cde. Sunday Adeola Simon, National President of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), today hosted a Students’ Stakeholders Engagement in Mopamuro, bringing together past and present student leaders, union executives, and key stakeholders from both Mopa and Amuro. The gathering, themed “Uniting Mopamuro Students for Progress and Sustainable Development,” aimed to strengthen student unionism, promote political neutrality, ensure student welfare, and advance sustainable development in the Local Government Area.
The engagement provided a robust platform for dialogue on the challenges and opportunities within student leadership. Participants emphasized unity, accountability, and collaboration as essential for effective governance. Guest Speaker Dr. Mercy Alepa-Oyebode delivered an insightful presentation on essential security measures, stressing the importance of awareness, communication, and preparedness in safeguarding student communities.
During the discussions, participants committed to promoting academic excellence, leadership development, and community service among students, while encouraging harmonious collaboration between past and present leaders to strengthen the union and ensure continuity. A major outcome of the meeting was the decision to revive and restructure the National Association of Mopamuro Students (NAMS) to foster greater unity among all student bodies within the Local Government Area. The engagement also reaffirmed the importance of political neutrality, ensuring the student union does not endorse or campaign for any political aspirant, candidate, or party, while calling for stronger communication channels between union leadership and students.
The session further commended the leadership of Mopamuro at both State and Local Government levels, the Traditional Council of Chiefs, the NAKOSS National President, and student stakeholders for their unwavering commitment to student welfare, peace, and development. Participants concluded the engagement optimistic about the future of student unionism in Mopamuro, pledging to work together toward a stronger, united, and progressive student community. The meeting closed with a collective call for responsible leadership, active participation, and collaborative efforts toward sustainable development within the Local Government Area.
