Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has urged muslim and Christian faithfuls to use this year’s Ramadan period to foster peace, security, and enhance unity across the state.

The deputy governor gave this advise while felicitating with the muslim Ummah and the Christian lanten commencement of the holy month .

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Friday Aghedo, the deputy noted that Ramadan and Lent are significant periods in the Islamic and Christian faiths that are usually marked by fasting, prayer, reflection, sacrifice, and renewed devotion to God.

He asserted that these sacred observances offer profound opportunities for spiritual rejuvenation, self-discipline, charity, and compassion toward one another, especially the less privileged in our communities.

Idahosa commended both the muslim and Christian faithfuls for their steadfast commitment to the principles of peace, patience, and generosity that embodies this period.

He urged them to continue to pray for the progress, stability, and prosperity of Edo State and Nigeria at large.

Similarly, he acknowledged the solemnity of the Lenten season in the Christian calendar, a time of repentance, self-examination, and spiritual renewal leading up to Easter.

Idahosa encouraged Christians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, love, and reconciliation that define this sacred period.

“The concurrent observance of these holy seasons is a powerful reminder of our shared values as a people, faith, unity, tolerance, and collective responsibility.

“Edo State remains a shining example of religious harmony, and Senator Monday Okpebholo’s administration is committed to sustaining an environment where all faiths coexist peacefully and contribute meaningfully to development,” he stated.

The Deputy Governor called on the people to use this period to promote unity, deepen interfaith understanding, and work collectively toward building a more just, secure, and prosperous State and nation.

He wished the muslim Ummah a peaceful and rewarding Ramadan and prayed for a spiritually fulfilling Lenten season for all Christians.
