Senator Umeh Inspects Ongoing Road Project In Agulu, Promises Timely Completion.
Residents of Nneoha and Nwanchi villages of Agulu and environs were filled with joy as the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Victor Umeh OFR, paid unscheduled visit to the Community to inspect the ongoing construction of Nneoha—Nwanchi Village Road in Agulu, Anaocha L.G.A of Anambra State.
The critical access road which when completed would serve as alternative road to the ever-busy Afor-Agulu market road spans from Nwanchi through Nneoha to Amaezike village measuring a total of 1.2 kilometres, standard measurement of 18feet width and with reinforced concrete drainage system on both sides for adequate erosion control.
Expressing the heartfelt gratitude of the villagers who gathered to receive the Senator and his entourage, Former Chairman of Nneoha Village Agulu and Secretary of Agulu Igwe-in-Council, Chief Chukwudi Igwe (Igwe Omeluora) thanked Senator Victor Umeh for harkening to the pleas of the people of Nneoha regarding the terrible condition of the road.
He testified to the seriousness of the contracting Firm and the quality of work done so far. He emphasized the importance of the road not only for Agulu residents but also for those traveling to Nanka—Ekwulobia vis-a-vis Adazi, Awka and beyond.
Chief Chukwudi Igwe maintained that the road when completed, would ease the flow of traffic at Afor-Agulu axis of the Amawbia—Ekwulobia—Uga Expressway especially during the Festive Season and would end the era of suffering for people who live and do businesses in the village.
The people hailed Senator Victor Umeh’s honest and people-oriented representation assuring him of their continued support especially as he had moved into the ADC with the former Governor of Anambra State and Agulu’s illustrious son, Mr Peter Obi.
On his part, Senator Victor Umeh expressed satisfaction with the quality and speed of work on the road. He commended the Contactor, Greenvile Construction Limited for their integrity in handling the project.
Senator Umeh stressed that just like many other projects going on simultaneously across Anambra Central Senatorial District, the project is expected to be asphalted in few months time.
He enumerated some of his projects in Agulu to include :
1. Construction of Nwanchi-Agulu Road to St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Adazi-Nnukwu.
2. Installation of 300kva Power Transformer in Obeagu Village of Agulu.
3. Lighting-up of the Igwe Agulu Central Palace with Solar Powered Electrification System.
4. Construction and equipping of Classroom Blocks at St. Albert The Great School, Agulu (fully completed).
5. Fencing of Union Secondary School in Umunnowu Village which was previously being attacked by thieves (fully completed).
Other programmes of Senator Umeh in the 10th Senate which have specially benefited the Agulu Community include employment opportunities facilitated for 35 persons in Anambra Central Senatorial District; Scholarship for 327 Students in Anambra Central among whom Agulu has 10 persons (among others that have been on Senator Umeh’s Scholarship Programme and have been graduating successfully).
The Senator has equally organized Empowerment Programmes in Anambra Central of which indigenes of Agulu Community benefited enormously such as: Agricultural Training and Empowerment for 500 persons, Distribution of Fertilizer to Farmers in Anambra Central, and Distribution of over 129,000 kilograms of rice as food palliative to cushion the effects of the hardship and hunger amongst the people.
Senator Umeh reiterated his unwavering commitment to ensuring the effective representation of Anambra Central Senatorial District and honest execution of Projects and Programmes as well as speaking boldly and courageously on issues affecting the Igbo people.
