
BIDOSA ’95 celebrates 30th anniversary, elects new EXCO members

Members of the Bishop Delisle College Old Students Association (BIDOSA) 95 set has ended a three-day reunion event meant to celebrate 30 years of graduation from their alma mater as well as elect new Executive Committee (EXCO) members to run the affairs of the association for the next four years.

The event which started with a special prayer at the Mosque and ended with a thanksgiving Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cathedral brought together members of the association from different parts of the country.
In his inaugural speech at the reunion get-together held at Confluence Motel Adankolo, Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, the immediate past General Secretary who emerged as the new President of BIDOSA ’95, Dr. Kabiru Tiamiyu, expressed profound gratitude and appreciation to the entire members for considering him fit to lead the association.
Dr. Tiamiyu, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at Federal University Lokoja (FUL), promised to justify the trust and confidence reposed in him by the members.
He said: “Let me express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every member of this association for electing me your president. Your trust and confidence mean a lot to me. I accept the responsibility with a deep sense of commitment. I promise you all that I will leave no stone unturned to make sure this great forum is lifted to greater heights.
“As we move forward, there is need for us to work hard to strengthen our noble association, promote the welfare of our members, foster unity as well as support the growth of our alma mater among other initiatives. I humbly request your support, ideas and collaborations as we embark on this journey together.
“I believe that with your maximum cooperation we can work together as a team and family to bring about the change we need to reposition BIDOSA ’95 in the collective interest of all of us.
“Thank you all for making this reunion a huge success. It’s a win for us all. Thank you again, and let’s move forward with purpose and passion.”
In his address, the immediate past President of BIDOSA ’95, Chief Joseph Okpanachi Adejoh, represented by the re-elected treasurer, Martins Idoko, thanked the members for the high level of cooperation they gave him while he held sway as the captain of the ship of the association.
The ex-president vowed to continue to offer maximum support at all times to ensure the sustainability of the association’s growth while also promising to always stand by the new president and his team.
Highlighting the achievements of his administration, Chief Adejoh, said under his leadership computers were purchased for the alma mater and distribution of exercise books and pen to the students. He also disclosed that the families of deceased members were supported with cash at different times.
Speaking at the get-together, the current Principal of Bishop Delisle College (BDC), Lokoja, Mrs Victoria Aniko ably represented by the Vice Principal, Academics, Mrs Alice Ebunoluwa Obafemi, commended the members of BIDOSA ’95 for the commitment and interest they have shown towards their alma mater.
She acknowledged BIDOSA ’95 as one of the sets that have offered support in one way or the other to the institution, while appealing to the association for more support, as according to her, the school is still faced with a number of challenges that need intervention.
Other members of the new EXCO elected along with Dr. Tiamiyu include Vice – President – Hajia Salamatu Usman, General Secretary – Bala Yusuf Nda, Assistant General Secretary – Tujuri Ilaya, PRO – Michael Jegede, Treasurer – Martins Idoko, Financial Secretary – Kabir Tanko Mohammed, Legal Adviser – Barrister Suleiman Yakub, Provost – Vincent Itemuagbor, Welfare Officer 1 – Lawal James, Welfare Officer 2 – Saadat Dantoro, Laison Officer – Peter Awirere and Security Advisers – Audu Inuwa and Suleiman Ali.
