Kogi Solid Minerals Commissioner Defends Budget, highlights ministry’s plans to boost sector
Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Gegu, appears before the Kogi State House of Assembly to defend his ministry’s budget for the 2026 fiscal year. This comes after Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo submitted the “Budget of Shared Prosperity” to the State House of Assembly, outlining a ₦820.49 billion budget aimed at driving sustainable growth and development in the state.
During his presentation, Engr. Bashir highlighted the ministry’s plans to boost the solid minerals sector, which is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s revenue and economic growth. The budget allocation for the ministry is expected to focus on enhancing revenue generation, improving infrastructure, and promoting sustainable development in the solid minerals sector.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government to ensure the budget’s successful implementation and achieve the desired outcomes. The Kogi State House of Assembly has pledged to give the budget accelerated but diligent consideration, aligning with global best legislative practices.
