Ebonyi First Lady Welcomes Newborn Named After Her, Urges Parents on Proper Upbringing

The Wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Mary Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, has warmly welcomed a newborn baby named in her honour by the Deputy Leader of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Deacon Joseph Ununu.
The official naming ceremony was held at the lawmaker’s residence in Abakaliki and attracted top government officials, political leaders, and well-wishers from across the state.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Nwifuru expressed deep gratitude to God for the gift of the child and thanked Deacon Ununu and his family for the honour of naming the baby after her.
She assured the child and her family of her love and support, while offering prayers for divine protection, abundant grace, and a bright future for her namesake.
“I strongly accept this child with joy. Naming this child after me is a clear indication of love and respect. I assure you that this child will be a blessing to the family. I pray that my namesake will grow above her equals and be guided and protected by God,” the First Lady said.
She also conveyed the appreciation of her husband, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, to the family for the honour bestowed on her. Mrs. Nwifuru further charged the parents to give the child proper moral and spiritual upbringing so that she would grow into a responsible, disciplined, and God-fearing individual.
Earlier in his remarks, the father of the child and Deputy Leader of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Deacon Joseph Ununu, said he was inspired to name the baby after the First Lady in appreciation of her love, kindness, and support to his family.
He thanked Mrs. Nwifuru for accepting the honour and pledged to raise the child with utmost care, discipline, and godly values. He also assured both the First Lady and the Governor of his continued loyalty and support.
“I have many children, but I am particularly delighted with this child whom I named Her Excellency, Mary Maudline Chimualuka Ununu. I promise to give her proper upbringing,” he stated.
“I married with beautiful five wives blessed with children, today I have twenty nine children and I am still producing more and more. My wives keep me happy, they struggle who will feed me morning, afternoon and night. Everytime I used to eat overdose”
“There is abundant of caring in my corner, joy, happiness and utmost enjoyment. I am urging every men to go into polygamy that is where there is life. If you check the history of those who married one wife and those who married many wives you will know that those who married many wives last longer while those who married one died between 40-45 years. In my next world I will marry more than twenty” he said
The Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area, Hon. Ebere Nwogba, described the gesture as a mark of gratitude and goodwill, commending the First Lady for graciously accepting the honour. He prayed for God’s provision, wisdom, and guidance for the family as they raise the child.
Similarly, the Chairman of Edda Local Government Area, Hon. Chima Ekumankama, congratulated Deacon Ununu on the birth of the child and urged him to train her in the ways of the Lord so she would grow to become a blessing to her family and society at large.
