KOGI GOVERNMENT FLAG OFF THE DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF MATERIALS TO 2025 FLOOD VICTIMS AT KOTON KARFE IN KOGI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA
Kogi State Government has flagged-off the commencement of relief distribution to flood affected communities and victims in Kogi Local Government Area today, Wednesday 22nd October, 2025.
The Executive Secretary Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA), Alh Mouktar Atimah, while delivering his speech disclosed that the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in yet another gesture to reflect the unwavering dedication of his government to alleviating the suffering of people and restoring hope to those in distress, has donated relief materials worth several millions of naira to the victims of flood disaster in Kogi LGA.
Atimah’s speech reads in part; “His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is resolutely committed in safeguarding lives and property, ensuring that none of the victims of disasters is left unassisted by his administration.
Today’s flag off for the distribution of food and non-food items is another commitment to proactive and responsive emergency management of the present administration in providing prompt response to any forms of disasters, and appreciating the Consultant Comfort Concept Limited Company for the effective role played so far in this 2025 flooding.
“While I enjoin you all to take it as a natural phenominon, I commiserate with the affected persons and Kogi LGA over the unfortunate flood disaster that ravaged some of the communities.
The Flag off ceremony, which was conducted in Koton-Karfi Community also witnessed presence of relevant stakeholders which included the Special Adviser on Emergency to Kogi Governor, Alhaji Muhammed Shuaibu; flood victims, representatives from traditioanal rulers, representatives from Security Agencies and as well as members of the host community.
During the flag off, the team paid a courtesy visit to the Ohimegye Igu of Koton Karfe, HRM DR Saidu Akawu Salihu, the chairman of Koton Karfe Traditional Council. The visit underscores the importance of collaboration between the government and traditional institutions in disaster management.
While welcoming the team, the Ohimegye Igu of Koton Karfe, HRM DR Saidu Akawu Salihu, thanked SEMA’s team for the visit, and appreciated Kogi State Government for prompt response and interventions.
