Chief Asaje commends Egbe residents for embracing peace.
An elder statesman from Yagba West LG of Kogi State, Chief Richard Asaje has commended youths, stakeholders, traditional rulers in Egbe township and beyond for embracing peace and not taken to the part of violence in the last few days of protest over killings of security operatives in the environ.
A statement signed by Chief Asaje indicated that Asaje was elated with the peaceful disposition of Egbe residents explaining “that people are free to protest. lt is a democratic right”, the statement read.
According to him, for those saying that protesters are blocking roads and causing inconveniences for others who use the roads, protesters all world over have used roadblocks to express their feelings, and in recent years have become more strongly linked to climate activism, he said.
Asaje expressed gratitude for the act of patriotism on the part of the youths as he considered it a great assurance of unwavering solidarity towards the collective actualisation of peace and security of lives and property in our communities.
Asaje said he feels their pains, and expressed delight in how they conducted themselves in the council, noting that with such understanding, the government would continue to improve on intelligent strategies to curb insecurity in the area and beyond. We must not politicise security of lives and property, security is everyone business, he added.
Mr Ododo is working hard with the local government authority and relevant security agencies across the state, we are complimenting him as the government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Our people must sleep with their two eyes closed again in our various constituents.
Security is a collective responsibility, informats are living among us. If you see something, say something.
“I was aware when the Special Adviser to the Governor on security stayed for weeks in Yagba West. We must continue to appreciate the effort of the government in curbing insecurity. Security of lives and property is a cardinal responsibility of government”.
“Action of government should not be blown open, we must be ready to stand by the government to maintain peace and guarantee safety of lives and property in our domain”.
Chief Asaje urged the youths, traditional rulers and everyone to be more vigilant in their domains and to promptly report strange developments or persons to the government and security agencies to disallow insecurity especially banditry, killings and other unlawful activities in the State.
The local government Council Boss should not be blamed for the present situation, he is genuinely passionate about the security situation in the LG. I could remember that a whole commissioner (late Akeweje)was killed by unknown gunmen in the area and there was no protest. Or is it that he came from the “Area Council”? We don’t need to politicise security of lives and property.
Chief Asaje therefore enjoined all well meaning people in the council to continue to be law – abiding, the government will continue to protect the lives and property of the people, he said.
