Ex. Dir. CHRCR Condemns Killing of 3 Police Officers, Says Time For Community Policing Apt.

The Executive Director, Centre For Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, Comr. Idris Miliki has condensed in strong terms the recent killing of three police men, in Okoloke, Yagba West LGA of Kogi State while carrying out their lawful duties.

He called for a new strategy in community Resilience in Kogi State, said the unfortunate murder of these police officers is condemnable and worrisome.

” For security officers performing their legitimate duties to be killed in such manner is a sad development. Despite the efforts of our security Men and the state government in recent times, yet this type of madness could still manifest”.

” We sympathize with their family, the Nigeria police force in Kogi State. We urge for holistic community involvement in the security design in our state.

“This unfortunate incredible happening has further reinforced the call for the creation of State police in Nigeria and the time is now.

We call on all communities, villages and local government in Kogi State to create a security committee in their various locations to compliment the efforts of the conventionally trained personnel. Retired and serving security persons who are indigenes in such a community should be included in the villages across the state. Resources should be mobilized by both private and public indigenes to compliment the efforts of the State and federal government as security is everyone’s business.

We must always be vigilante and be conscious of our community security situation at all times. We must create an early warning and respond mechanism, share credible and timely security information to relevant institutions and agencies.
May the souls of these galant police officers rest in peace.
