By joshua 2027: Uyo Will Deliver Bigger Votes for Eno, Tinubu, Akwa Ibom SSG Says

The Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, says Uyo Local Government Area will deliver more votes for Governor Umo Eno and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Nigeria’s 2027 elections.
Mr Uwah, who is also the political leader of Uyo, made the statement on Wednesday during a meeting with political leaders, stakeholders and party members from the local government.
He said Uyo remained politically important to the state and argued that developments under Mr Eno’s administration provided reasons for residents to continue supporting the governor.
“Things are better with Uyo now than in the past. The Governor deserves the support of Uyo people,” Mr Uwah said.
The meeting is part of efforts to strengthen grassroots political mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Mr Uwah also praised the chairman of Uyo Local Government, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, and said he planned to hold separate meetings with young people and women to increase their participation in the political process.
‘Massive votes’
Looking ahead to 2027, Mr Uwah said Uyo would support Mr Eno, Mr Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He also expressed confidence in the prospects of Senator Aniekan Bassey, Hon Mark Essiet and Hon Uwemedimo Asuquo.
But he warned party members against starting political campaigns for the Uyo local government chairmanship too early.
Such activities, he said, could distract the current administration from its responsibilities.
Dr Udo, who is also chairman of Nigeria’s Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Akwa Ibom, welcomed the meeting and said cooperation among political leaders was important for strengthening the party at grassroots level.
He disclosed that more than 20,000 new voters had been registered in Uyo during the recent voter registration exercise.
The figure could increase the number of people eligible to participate in future elections in the local government, although voter registration does not necessarily translate into support for any particular party or candidate.
Former Chairman of the Local Government and Civil Service Commission, Hon Monday Eyo, also praised the Eno administration for infrastructure projects and appointments.
He cited the Uyo Village Road as an example of the government’s development initiatives and urged party members to remain committed ahead of 2027.
The meeting was attended by government officials, political leaders, councillors, supervisors and other stakeholders, including Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Dr Anieti Udofia, UCCDA chairman Hon Anietie Eka, tourism adviser Sir Charles Udoh, Dean of Permanent Secretaries Mrs Uduak Eyo Ansa and Special Adviser on Entrepreneurial Development Mr Ime Uwah.
Nigeria’s next general elections are expected to be closely contested, with political parties already beginning to organise at grassroots level in preparation for 2027.
