The contest for the Kogi East Senatorial seat in 2027 is gathering momentum with QS Alhaji Aminu Abubakar Suleiman, flying the flag of the African Democratic Congress, ADC for the district.
The Quantity Surveyor and business leader is being widely described as the “perfect bridge” needed to unite Kogi East and drive development across the nine local government areas.
A known name in Kogi politics, QS Aminu previously contested for the governorship under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, before moving to the ADC. His decision has been received with strong support across Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela-Odolu, Ofu, Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Omala and Olamaboro.
For decades, Aminu built a solid reputation in the private sector with interests in construction, infrastructure and conglomerates. His companies are credited with the remodeling of Nigerian airports and the execution of major construction, rehabilitation and reconstruction projects for both state and federal establishments. The firms are also known for delivering public monuments and private developments on schedule and to specification.
Stakeholders say that track record is what Kogi East needs in the National Assembly. They argue that his experience in project management, public bidding and quality delivery can translate into effective legislation and the attraction of federal projects to the zone.
Political observers note that QS Aminu’s appeal cuts across party, ethnic and religious lines. He is regarded as accessible, cosmopolitan and committed to service beyond personal interest.
“From the boardroom to the grassroots, he has shown capacity. That is the kind of representation Kogi East deserves,” a community leader in Dekina said.
With the ADC gaining traction in the zone, the conversation ahead of 2027 is increasingly centered on competence and capacity. For many in Kogi East, QS Aminu Abubakar Suleiman represents the bridge to purposeful representation and sustainable development.
