Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has expressed his assursnce on the ability of the people of Kogi East to turn in massive votes for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for the re – election of the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, himself and all candidates of the party in next year’s general election.
He stated this on Saturday at Okpo, the headquarters of Olamaboro Local Government Area where over a Million people converged for a march in support of the ruling party.
A press statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Yabagi Mohammed noted that the Governor was reprsented at the event by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf.
Ododo noted that the party is proud of the people of Kogi East whose politics and direction has always been charactcterised by sincerity, focus, determination and the ability to ensure comprehensive victory for their preferred choice during elections.
Governor Ododo, who was overhwhelmed by the mammoth crowd at the venue, stressed that the people of Olamaboro have spoken in a terms clear to all and sundry where their political priority lies in the coming elections and thanked them for their sense of reciprocity.
He said having their son on the ballot for the next National Assembly Senate Seat was one of the deliberate decisions of the APC to reward their loyalty and commitment to the ruling party, adding that many infrastructural projects that would continue to better the lives of the people would be sustained, with new ones already earmarked for the area.
The Governor, who opined that no single senatorial district can do it on their own when it comes to Kogi politics, enjoined the entire people of Kogi East to unite and give their support for the APC because it meant well for them and the entire citizenary.
He said he prides himself as one of the sons of Igala land because many of his bosom friends and closest allies with whom he runs the present administration are sons and daughters of the area, hence they should sustain their loyalty to the present government at all levels.
In his own capacity, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf thanked the people for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage, noting that since assumption of office, he has worked closely with his colleagues from the area on many bills and laws that have attracted development to the area.
“Apart from bills, motions and laws that have uplifted the living standards of Igala land, all the projects of this government that require appropriation and oversight have gotten speedy passage under my leadership as the Speaker of the Assembly,” Rt. Hon. Umar stated.
The Speaker had the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba on his entourage with other lawmakers also present with government functionaries from the area.
