2023: The Rebirth of A New Nigeria With Governor Yahaya Bello


 

As 2023 draws nearer, it becomes obvious that an average Nigerian requires not the service of a political analyst to understand that the criteria for 2023 presidency is not far fetch.

UNITY: One with practical unifying leadership quality, ability and dexterity to douse the series of unhealthy agitations in some regions of the country.

INCLUSIVENESS: One with a good track record and proven stewardship in addressing the various agitations for Women and youth inclusiveness in government.

SECURITY: One with a nationally acknowledged template and scorecard in addressing the various forms of insecurities in the country.

EQUITY: One whose regional background will address the Marginalization of North Central Geopolitical Zone in Nigeria

25 years after the 1995 Beijing women conference, Nigerian women have continued to struggle for space in all spheres of life. No government, Federal or State has made any attempts to implement a National Gender Policy (NGP) that is aimed at encouraging women inclusion in policymaking, election, and appointment.

The Governor Bello led administration in Kogi State has surpassed the 35% Affirmative Action for Gender representation, a feat that has brought him accolade like “The Most Gender Sensitive Governor in Nigeria” by *the National Council for Women Society*.

In addition to this, he is doing the same for Youths and people living with disability (PLWD). The administration of Governor Bello has since added more feathers to the youth by creating a Kogi State Youth Development Commission to cater for youth related matters.

More so, his giant strides in addressing insecurities in a state that is bordering 10 (ten) States and a one time hotbed of insecurity earned him several National and International Awards cum recognition.

His leadership acumen displayed in breaking the jinx of ethno-religious challenges in Kogi, a State that is a microcosm of Nigeria. Governor Yahaya Bello has effectively and efficiently made it possible for his state to be described a state of “unity in diversity”. This is exactly what we yearn for in Nigeria.

On a final note, equity, fairness and justice are indices for measuring true democracy. In Nigeria, there are six (6) Geopolitical Zones: North West, North East, North Central, South East, South West and South South. All of the aforementioned Geopolitical Zones have produced at least a President or a Vice each, *except for North Central Geopolitical Zone that has neither produced a President nor a Vice President*

So, the calls of Nigeria youths on Gov. Bello from the North Central axis of Nigeria to run for 2023 Presidency will address the Marginalization and every other problems of the country.

Nigeria indeed deserves a capable, youthful and resourceful leader like Governor Yahaya Bello who is practically competent enough to diligently handle if not all but the major challenges of country as we hope for the rebirth of a New Nigeria comes 2023.
