The House of Representatives flag bearer of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Hon. Aloysius Okino has promised to prioritize the resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel Company, (ASCL), if he is elected into office.
Hon Okino, who was a former chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, made the promise during a chat with our correspondent in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
According to him, in spite of the moribund state of the steel company, the federal government could still resuscitate it.
He emphasized that the hope of the country’s technological advancement lies with the development of the steel project.
“With the right policy direction, diligence and focus, there is hope that the company will still work,” he maintained.
The PDP candidate also pointed out that youth development would receive his keen attention, if given the mandate to represent his constituency.
He bemoaned the high level of youth unemployment in the country, vowing that, he would do everything possible to reverse the situation in his constituency.
Hon. Okino stated that as a private individual he had helped in facilitating the employment of youths into federal ministries and agencies and also helped women in accessing micro credits
Hon Okino recalled that, as LG chairman, he performed creditably well in terms of provision of critical projects; stressing that, if given the opportunity,, at the federal level, to contribute his quota, he would do more.
One of the projects he facilitated, he said, was the electrification project in Kporoko community.
Hon Okino said when elected into the House of Representatives, he would lobby the right agencies, as a way of giving quality representation to his people.
He urged those who are yet to undertake voter registration to ensure that they take advantage of the window provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), before it expires.
He said that registration and collection of Personal Voters Cards (PVCs), remains the only way whereby they could vote for the candidate of their choice
Hon Okino is a graduate of Geography from University of Abuja. He holds a Master’s Degree and currently running a Ph.D programme.
