… Charges Electorate To Vote For Credible Candidates
Ahead of the forthcoming general election, the Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR) has trained 79 election observers for Nigeria Situation Room.
The Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room is a coalition of Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs) in Nigeria that has it’s members in all 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR), Comr. Idris Miliki called on Nigerians to be patient and work for the success of 2023 Elections by participating actively and vote for candidate and party’s of their choice.
Comr. Miliki gave the charge in Lokoja, Kogi state during
a one day training of 79 observers for the 21 local government areas of Kogi state ahead of 2023 general election.
The Executive Director cautioned Nigerians against electoral violence and inducement of any kind before, during and after the election.
The training which was facilitated by CHRCR according to Comr. Miliki is aimed at ensuring credibility in the electoral process, particularly during the Election Day, said it is expected that an independent report will be submitted.
Comr. Miliki stated that the trained observers are expected to observe and report on the conducts of Elections by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the 25th February and 11st March, 2023 respectively.
In his remarks, the representative Kogi Resident Electoral Commissioner INEC Haliru Haruna Sule who is also the Head of Voters’ Education and Publicity commended the effort of the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in partnership with INEC towards the conduct of Free, Fair and Credible Elections.
He assured the organizers and participants that elections shall hold as scheduled and solicited for continued collaboration amongst stakeholders towards a successful elections.
The training featured the importance and objectives of Election Observation, the rights and responsibility of observers particularly on Election Days.
Also the processes and Filling of Election Reports, Electronic Format of transferring reports to Situation Room National Secretariat on Election Day, which include incident reports and other relevant information that can help the Election process.
Similarly, the role played by BVAS in an election was demonstrated as well as the role of Presiding Officers and Voters on Election Day.
At the end of the training, observers kits were distributed to all the participants drawn from the 21 local government areas of Kogi state.
