The Peoples Democratic Party, Presidential Flagbearer, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku has promised that the night mare of Ajaokuta would be a thing of the past as well as fix all federal roads leading to Kogi State if elected in the February election.
Alh. Atiku made the pledge while in Lokoja in continuation of his efforts to woo the people’s support ahead the forthcoming election, promised the immediate take off of the Ajaokuta Steel company if elected.
The PDP Presidential Candidate described Kogi State as a PDP State, urged the people to rise to the occasion by voting for the PDP in the coming election, promised to make the inland ports to work.
While maintaining that if elected he will support the State to pay salaries, promised to set aside $10billion dollars for job creation, promised to tackle incessant strikes in the nation’s Universities.
The PDP Flagbearer expressed satisfaction with the turnout of people to receive him described the mammoth crowd as an indication of a people yearning for change, a positive change that would improve there quality and standard of living.
The PDP Presidential Flagbearer described the party as light over the ruling APC, expressed dissatisfaction with the standard of living and hardship Nigerians are going through amidst poverty, rising insecurity and downturn of the economy.
The PDP Flagbearer promised to include more citizens of the State in governance if elected, assured that the Abuja Lokoja road and other federal roads would get massive attention.
While promising to harnessed the natural and resources in the State for the benefits of the people, Alhaji Atiku promised to revamp the agriculture and tourism potentials that abound the State.
Gov. Udom Emmanuel, Gov. Ifeanyi Ukowa, said with experience, the will of the people, the PDP will build the State infrastructure, urged Kogi people to vote the PDP to rescue Nigeria
Speaking in the same vain, Gov. Aminu Tambuwal said Kogi State has all the potentials in natural and human resources, but said it like Nigeria, it lacks leadership, urged the people to vote the PDP for a rejuvenation of the economy.
Speaking at the event, former Gov. Ibrahim Idris described the hardship facing Kogi people under the APC administration as unprecedented in the annals of the State, assured that the PDP would win overwhelmingly in the coming general election.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the PDP, Engr. Samuel Uhoutu, described the crowd as overwhelming, urged them not to sell there PVC and votes for peanuts.
Highlights of the event was the massive defection of prominent APC leaders and members from across the State in there numbers, who all stressed that the APC administration in the State has made them worse off in terms of living conditions and dividends of democracy.
Receiving the decampees, Dr. Iyoucha Ayu urged the returnees to work collectively towards ensuring victory for the PDP, described the worsening state of the economy, insecurity and poverty as unprecedented.
Amongst the returning to the PDP from APC was the former Deputy Governor to Gov. Yahaya Bello, Simon Achuba, Former Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Alfa Imam and Hon. Yahaya Karaku, former Chairman, Okene LGA.
The PDP claimed that about 148,000 APC and other members joined the PDP.
Speaking on behalf of the returnees, former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Simeon Achuba, said there return to PDP is occassioned by the failed promises made by the APC to Nigerians in 2015 and 2019, lamented that the country is worse off than where the APC took over administration.
