
The Kogi State chapter of the National Association of proprietors of private schools on Tuesday as part of activities lined up to celebrate its day in Lokoja bestowed a prestigious private Education Award on the State executive Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

NAPPS equally in recognition of his valuable contributions to fast track private Education in the state conferred Key Contributor to private schools Education award to the State Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology,Mr. Wemi Jones.
The state chairman of NAPPS, Dr. Yaqueen Habeeb said the Governor and the state Commissioner of education surprised them for their massive encouragement and support to owners of private schools, hence they decided to acknowledged their passions for developing education industry through private sector partnership.
NAPPS also bestowed an ambassador of private schoool award on Hon. Yakubu Yunisa, Dr. Susan Benjamin the proprietress of Scintillate school barracks as well as other notable personalities.
The State Commissioner of education, science and technology Mr. Wemi Jones in an address at the occasion informed that as a matter of policy it is under most for all registered private schools to allow their students to sit for mock examinations being organized by the ministry of education.
He assured owners of private colleges of the stance of the present administration of Governor Yahaya Bello not to double tax them as government was not unaware of the hardship bedevilling society.
He commended them for the quality teaching and learning being offered to students positing that the 2020 waec results which Kogi State took 14th-positions out of the 36-states of the federation with 67-points ran neck to neck with Lagos State was made possible due to their deligence to duties.
Mr. Wemi Jones explained that arrangements are in top gear to organise Science and Technological related quiss competitions between the public and private schools stating that the intention is to demonstrate Government’s desirability that public schools have been equipped to face educational challenges.
The Commissioner warned that the state government will revoke the operational license of any of their members that refuses to get their schools registered with the State ministry of education
“On the issue of security our Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has adopted pragmatic approach to secured lives and property of the citizens including the school students” despite some pocket of insecurity witnessed in part of the state of recent,the Governor had shown capacity to handle any insecurity”.
