DEMAND FOR IMMEDIATE REOPENING OF KABAYI ROAD

By Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo Simeon.
7th August, 2026.
I write to demand the immediate reopening of Kabayi Road, connecting Kabayi community in Aso District, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State to the main town.
*Background:*
The Triaca Construction Company blocked the Kabayi road approximately two months ago to carry out an underground drainage project intended to channel water from Abacha Road and its environs into the Kabayi River. While the objective was initially welcomed by the community, the current implementation and prolonged closure have led to serious hardship.
*Current Hardship and Public Safety Concerns:*
Due to the closure, residents now experience difficulties in accessing the town, while motorists are forced to use the ever-deplorable Gwagalape feeder road. In addition, the restricted access has created a dangerous situation for emergency response. A building was recently engulfed by fire, but the fire service could not arrest the situation effectively because of the lack of access. Other emergencies may arise, and with the present condition, response will be practically impossible.
*Progress of Works*
We note that the contractor has completed the drainage works from Kabayi to Sharp Corner main road, and the main road connecting Mararaba and Nyanya has been opened for use. However, Kabayi Road is yet to be reopened.
*Our Demand*
We therefore respectfully but firmly demand the following:
Immediate reopening of Kabayi Road.
• to restore safe access for residents and motorists; and
Immediate intervention by relevant authorities
* to ensure compliance and protect public safety.
We call on all concerned parties to act urgently in the interest of the people of Kabayi and the safety of lives and property.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
