The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), on Monday said it is untrue that 35 trucks of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, have been diverted.
The Chairman, PMAN Chairman of NNPC depot Ore, Western Zone of Nigeria, Engineer Shina Amao, said the 35 trucks containing 33,000 litres each, totalling 1,155,000 litres of PMS are still intact
He also said rumours that the product had been diverted and that people protested against the alleged diversion are false.
He insisted that there was no protest of any product diversion in the depot.
Amao said the PMS which has not been deregulated is still intact at Ore deport.
He further explained that diesel and kerosene, which have been deregulated, were the products that have been loaded
He said, the PMS which is still intact, when ready for distribution will be sent to Ondo State, Ekiti State, part of Osun and part of Kogi that Ore depot is covering.
He reiterated that the PMS which has not been deregulated will be loaded by the marketers who will distribute the product within the states that the depot is covering.
He assured that the PMS will be loaded among the marketers in Ore and that it will be open to all with equity and no hidden agenda.
Amao said, “1,155,000 litres of PMS contained in 35 trucks that are in Ore depot is still intact and it has not been programmed. A truck contains 33,000 litres. The product has not been paid for by marketers. So we are waiting for approval from Abuja to be placed in the depot so that the people involved can be aware before planning to offload of the product.
“Information that the product has been loaded and diverted is false. The product is in Ore depot. Iit shall be distributed after being verified by the appropriate agencies. It will be loaded to Ondo State, Ekiti State, part of Osun State and part of Kogi State that Ore depot is covering. The depot is still having the product. The product is not even ready for loading.
“There are one or two things to be done by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) management before it will be ready to be supplied to marketers. There was no protest about petrol being loaded or diverted. The product is still in Ore and intact. It is verifiable. The product is not even ready for distribution. The Chairman of the depot will make the name and list of the people who will load the product to their stations and we will send the product to the states that our depot is covering and it will be made known to the marketers accordingly.”
