Sen. Godswill Akpabio Senator Elect, from Akwa Ibom State has been described as the best choice for the Senate President in the about to be constituted 10th National Assembly.
According to a group in a statement addressed to Newsmen, said the Senate Presidency, should be for a Southern Christian.
According to a statement issued by Danladi Bako, on behalf of Equity and Justice Group, said Sen. Akpabio should be the natural choice for the Senate Presidency for the sake of National unity and religious balancing.
Among Ranking Senators, Sen. Akpabio is presently in contention for the Senate Presidency.
Senator Godswill is a Senator Elect, was a Senator in the 8th Assembly. He was a two time Governor of Akwa Ibom State and a Lawyer with an unblemished records.
According to the group, Sen. Akpabio has the capacity and integrity, said he has a reputation that will not tarnish the image of the 10th Assembly and the APC new government.
The group described him as a man who stands tall amongst the likely contenders considering the fact that the South South geopolitical zone gave quality votes to APC at the Presidential election.
Similarly, the group described Sen. Akpabio as a bridge builder that has friends all over the nation which will enhance his support from the Northern huge block vote.
The group said the fact that he was not a Senator in the 9th Assembly should not stand against him having been in the leadership in the 8th Assembly.
The Group called on the APC and Senator Elected from the party to look in his direction, assuring that he is the best bet for leadership and stability in the 10th National Assembly.
