joshuaXmas: Tinubu’s Wife disburse N200,000 to 250 elderly citizens in Ebonyi
Wife of the president federal republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has disburse two hundred thousand to two hundred and fifty elderly citizens under renewed hope initiative in Ebonyi State.
The wife of the president represented by the first lady of Ebonyi State Chief Mrs Mary-Maudlin Nwifuru said the programme was designed to support the welfare of the elderly citizens at the age of sixty five and above across the thirty six States of the federation and federal capital territory, Abuja.
The Nigerian first lady noted that the governing board of the renewed hope intiative decided to increase the grant from 100,000 to 200,000 this year to provide further support to the elderly citizens during this festive season.
She promised to increase the number of beneficiaries to 500 in Ebonyi, following the support from the state governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, and other partners to her pet project, Better Health for Women, Children and Internally Displaced People Foundation.
“The Governing Board of the Renewed Hope Initiative has decided to increase the grant from 100,000 to N200,000 this year to provide further support to our elderly citizens during this festive season.
“A total of one billion, nine hundred million Naira (N1,900,000,000) will be disbursed across the nation. The RHI Coordinators in the 36 states of the federation, the FCT, and DEPOWA have received fifty million Naira (N50,000,000) each, out of which N200,000 will be distributed today to each beneficiary. In addition to this, free medical checkups and other sundry items will be provided,” the First Lady explained.
The President’s wife extended her greetings to Ebonyi people, especially the beneficiaries of the program and the partners, for their efforts to make the event a reality in the state.
While congratulating all the senior citizens in Ebonyi who were among the beneficiaries of the scheme, she assured them of continuous interventions from the present administration at all times.
On her part, wife of Ebonyi State Governor represented by commissioner for women affairs in the State Barr. Felicia Nwamkpuma appreciated Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her numerous support to Ebonyi people, describing the gesture as first of its kind in the State, promising to continue stepping down the renewed hope initiative programmes to the grassroots towards enhancing the living standard of Ebonyi people while urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity in their own best interest.
In their seperate good will messages, Mrs Cathrine Ogbu, Professor Adeline Idike, Princess Chinwe Okah among others lauded President Tinubu’s wife, Governor Nwifuru and his wife for their show of commitment in taking care of the needy and the less privileged ones in the State and urged them to sustain the tempo for the overall wellbeing of Ebonyi people.
The event featured distribution of 25kg bags of rice to all beneficiaries and cultural display.
