UBEC TO BEGINS PERSONNEL AUDIT OF BASIC EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN KOGI STATE.

Lokoja, May 30, 2022.

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) is set to conduct the National Personnel Audit (NPA) of all basic education institutions in Kogi State in July, 2022.

The audit exercise is to capture all learners and personnel in public and private basic education institutions, registered and unregistered; mainly the pre-primary, primary and Junior Secondary Schools in the state.

Preparatory to the exercise, UBEC has commenced a state level briefing of selected field officers from the State Ministry of Education, the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and from among members of the National Association of Principals of Private Schools (NAPPS) and Education Secretaries in the state.

Declaring UBEC activities open on Monday at the State Ministry of Education, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi harped on the importance of schools’ personnel audit in the state.

The Commissioner who observed that Kogi State had previously missed out of good programmes of UNICEF and other donor agencies due to lack of verifiable data, reiterated the importance of generating one for effective planning.

He said the Ministry would take the personnel audit with utmost importance, declaring the availability of adequate personnel and facilities to undertake the important assignment.

He urged participants to take the exercise as a national call, handle it with passion and ensure completion of the job within record time.

Briefing the participants, the head of Education Management Information System/Statistics in UBEC, Mr. Yakubu Achimugu said the census would cover all basic public and private institutions in the state to obtain credible data for planning.

He mentioned one of the major functions of UBEC as the periodic personnel audit of basic public and private education institutions, saying the expected update from upcoming activities would be used to revise the national data bank for effective planning and implementation of education programmes.

He said the exercise is not to witch-hunt any personnel or school but to obtain accurate data needed for planning towards the development of the Nigerian school system within the level of focus.

In his remarks, the Director of Administration and Supplies in Kogi SUBEB, Dr. Jibrin Saidu who also emphasised the need for credible data in effective planning, urged officers who would collate the data to be focused and obtain best results from the exercise.

Stakeholders at the meeting discussed further plans of making the entire process successful.
