Student Leaders from Idah Local Government Endorse Alhaji Halilu Alfa for Chairman Ahead of October 19 Elections

 

In a remarkable show of unity and support as Idah Student leaders representing various institutions across the nation endorsed Hon. Alhaji Halilu Alfa, popularly known as “Óma-ójà,” for the position of Chairman of Idah Local Government. This endorsement came ahead of the highly anticipated local government council elections in Kogi State scheduled for October 19, 2024.

The event, which was held in idah native town today being the 1st day of September brought together a diverse group of student representatives from institutions including Kogi State University, the Federal Polytechnic Idah, FUT Minna, BUK, ABU, ATBU and the Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, et’al. These student leaders, who hail from Idah Local Government, unanimously declared their support for Alhaji Halilu Alfa, citing his track record of community service, visionary leadership, and support to youth empowerment and student’s unionism.

Speaking on behalf of the student leaders, Comrade Obaje Yusuf, the President of the student support group, expressed confidence in Alhaji Halilu Alfa’s ability to bring about the much-needed development in Idah Local Government. “Alhaji Halilu Alfa has consistently demonstrated his dedication to the progress of idah local government. His vision aligns with the aspirations of the youth, and we believe he is the right person to lead Idah to greater heights,” Obaje Yusuf stated.

The endorsement ceremony was also an opportunity for the students to highlight the critical issues facing Idah Local Government, particularly in the areas of education, infrastructure, and job creation. They expressed optimism that under Alhaji Halilu Alfa’s leadership, these challenges would be addressed effectively, fostering a more prosperous and inclusive environment for all residents.

In his response, Alhaji Halilu Alfa who was represented by the local government party chairman of APC, Hon. Ogwu Freeman Adejoh expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from the student of idah local government. He reaffirmed his commitment to making youth development a central focus of his administration if elected. “The future of Idah lies in the hands of our youth, and he promise to work tirelessly to ensure that the voices of our young people are heard and their needs are met,

Alhaji Halilu Alfa’s campaign has continued to gain momentum, with endorsements pouring in from various quarters, including traditional leaders, women’s groups, and other community stakeholders. His candidacy has been seen as a unifying force within Idah Local Government, earning him the nickname “Óma-ójà,” meaning “a man accepted by everyone.”

As the election day draws nearer, the endorsement from the student leaders is expected to further strengthen Alhaji Halilu Alfa’s position as the front-runner in the race for the chairmanship of Idah Local Government. With his pledge to prioritize education, and youth empowerment, many are optimistic that a new era of development and progress is on the horizon for Idah under his leadership.

The October 19 local government council election is poised to be a defining moment for Idah, and with the growing support for Alhaji Halilu Alfa, the community is set to witness a leadership that is truly for the people and by the people.
