I want to thank the Federal government for the approval of the construction of some roads and bridges across the country, at the Federal Executive Council meeting, yesterday.
My worry is the total neglect of the award of contract for the construction of Onitsha – Aguleri – Ibaji – Idah – Abuja Road. This road, when constructed, will reduce the average travel time from Onitsha to Abuja by over 4 hours. Aside reducing the travel time, linking some parts of South East and South South to the nation’s capital will be made easy by road. The economic advantage of the road cannot be over-emphasised, as it will open up the agrarian communities of Anambra and Kogi states to the entire world.
I therefore urge the members of the National Assembly from the states of Anambra and Kogi, to put pressure on the Federal government to get the road constructed, as it will further decongest the already congested routes from some of the South East and South South states to the nation’s capital.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
