My People Advised Me To Step Down For Now: Ojo

By Ikhili Ebalu, Benin City

House of Representatives hopeful for the Owan Federal Constituency, Mr Christopher Ojo, said his decision to jettison his aspiration was as a result of family decision and the fact that he has nothing to prove.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Benin on Tuesday, Ojo noted that haven carefully examined the current political intrigues in the country, it took him no time to align with his family decision.

He however assured his teeming supporters that with or without political office, he would continue to contribute his quota to the development of the federal constituency and its people.

He further assured that some of his supporters would be absorbed into his company.

“For me, the development of Owan cannot wait or be put on hold until 2023.

“With or without a seat in the Green Chamber, I will continue to contribute the little I can and like i have consistently done over the years, to the growth and development of Owan.

“It must however be noted that I did not step-down for anybody. My decision to let go of my aspiration is purely a family affair and moreso about the intrigues I have carefully observed since the commencement of sales of nomination forms.

“I must say here that in another two weeks time, it will be clearer to the people why I decided to let go of my aspiration,” he stated.

Ojo who did not state whether or not he will remain in the All Progressives Congress, however pledged to support candidate he deemed fit for the Owan federal constituency seat.

While commending his friends and associates who had donated money to buy his nomination form, he said the money would be refunded.

He also appreciated the support and advice offered him by religious and political leaders in the area.
