Kogi Speaker, Others Attend Zakari Ola’s Daughter Naming Ceremony
…As Imam Sha’aban Tasks Parents On Proper Upbringing
A philanthropist and Abuja-based businessman, Alhaji Zakari Abubakar Ola has named his newly born baby ‘Adiza’.
The naming ceremony was held on Monday at his New Layout residence in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Muhammad Aminu Sha’aban, admonished parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children.
The Islamic Cleric said that children are special gift from God and should be brought up in a Godly manner as such children would contribute positively to the development of the society.
In his own remarks, Sheikh Abubakar Adamu, who presided over the recitation of the Holy Quran, prayed for the unity of Kogi State and progress of the country.
Meanwhile, special prayers were offered for the late father of the celebration, Abubakar Ola and family of Alhaji Baba Ali, the Gabi of Lokoja, whom he described as his god father.
Speaking to newsmen in an interview shortly after the ceremony, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, who led other dignitaries to the naming ceremony prayed God to give the newly born baby (Adiza) sound health and for her to bring more blessings to the family and the state at large.
While describing children as special gift from God, Yusuf urged parents to give special attention to the education and upbringing of their children to build an egalitarian society.
He lamented how some parents subjected and abandoned their children to street hocking and begging and called for collective efforts to end the menace.
The Speaker, who was recently turbaned as the Badakoshi of Lokoja, described the bouncing baby as blessing, prayed God to give her good health, prosperity and make her grow to be good citizen in the society.
The colourful event had in attendance member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Danladi Sulaiman Aguye, member representing Lokoja 1 state Constituency, Hon. Shehu Tijani Bin Ebaiya, traditional title holders, top government officials, politicians among other dignitaries, just as praise singers had field days.
In his thank you message, the celebrant, Zakari Ola expressed his appreciation to all that come to grace the occasion, praying Allah to reward them abundantly.
