Make Our Togetherness A Priority, Gov. Bello Tasks Youths


 

Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello has called on youths in the country to defends the sovereignty of Nigeria saying that Nigeria can not afford to break up.

Bello made the call on Friday at the Government house in Lokoja when youths from the National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN), National Association of Kogi State Students, (NAKOSS), and National Association of Nigeria Students, (NANS), made a one million match in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Kogi State.

Bello said the country belongs to everyone hence the need for the youths to join hands together towards ensuring that the sacrifice of the nation founding fathers does not go in vain.

Represented by his Chief of Staff Pharmacist Jamiu Asuku, the Governor noted Nigeria youths will
decide the fate of the nations adding that, they must not be used by enemies of the country to perpetuate crimes and criminality.

He urged Nigerian youths to be law-abiding saying ” embarking on crimes in the country will not move this country forward. We as youths must come out and defend the unity of Nigeria”.

Bello called on the youths to always give peace a chance adding that it is on record that the state has never witness religion, tribal or any form of crisis since it was created in 1991.

The Governor reiterated his administration commitment in protecting lives and properties in the State just as he condemned the ongoing crisis in Jos Plateau State.

Earlier, the Kogi State Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ambassador Samuel Usman Ogohi rated Governor Yahaya Bello’s feat on security of lives and property high.

Ogohi said the visit to the Governor was part of the council’s activities for the celebration of thirty years of creation of Kogi state.

The Youth leader while assessing the journey so far in Kogi, affirmed that Governor Bello also excelled in the area of youth empowerment and gender sensitive in governance amongst others.

According to him, “In the last thirty years, the issue of security of lives and property, youth empowerment and gender consideration received much attention”

On security of lives and property, Ambassador Usman described the present day Kogi under the leadership of Governor Bello as most peaceful state in Nigeria.

He attested that since Bello came on board, cases of kidnaps, robbery and other forms of Criminalities have reduced to the barest minimum.

The youth leader also maintained that Bello’s administration had continued to embark on funding of skills acquisition training for the Youths as well as their involvement in agricultural activities to make them self-reliant.

He extolled the Governor for appointments of the youths into various political positions since he came on board.

He noted that the recent election of women as vic-chairpersons of the 21 Local Government Areas in the state attested to his regard for gender sensitive and inclusive in governance.

Adding her voice to Bello’s giant strides since he came on board, President of National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), Miss Rachael Balogun expressed optimism that Kogi students will continue to rally round the Governor to enable him delivery more democracy dividends to the people of the state.

She particularly praised the Governor for extending equity and fair play to everybody in the state irrespective of gender, political and religious differences.
