The coordinator Mushroom Growers, processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria (NAM-GP-MAN) in Kwara state,Mr Ade Aliyu Lawal has promised to create more awareness and sensitisation on the importance of mushroom growing, production and marketing in the state.
According to him,on assumption as the Kwara state coordinator of the association about four months ago, he observed that there was little awareness on the relevance of mushroom growing, consumption and marketing in the state as a result of which he started partnering with relevant stakeholders such as center for sustainable agric empowerment ( a non governmental organization) ,ministry of agric ,ministry of women affairs ,ministry of enterprise and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in a bid towards creating adequate awareness.
He disclosed that they have organised seminars, workshops and trainings on the relevance of mushroom production, consumption and marketing.
In his words ” a lot of people have got awareness and education on the nutritional, medicinal and the economic value of mushroom “.
Mr Ade Lawal who is also a member of the Lagos Business school and agric management called on the people of Kwara state to key into the mushroom value chain, adding that mushroom is a super food and a wealth Creator.
The coordinator called on the Kwara state government as a relevant subsector to give the association the necessary support it required for effective function ing in its drive to promoting economic prosperity for the people of the state.
