Kogi NEWMAP Trains Members of State Steering, Technical Committees, Line MDAs.


 

Kogi State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) has trained Members of the State Steering and Technical Committees, Line MDAs.

The two day training program took place at Hill top hotel Okene, seeks also train members of Communities of intervention by State Newmap on Project Sustainability Measures.

The participants were trained on Project Collaboration and Sustainability; maintenance culture and best practices for the prevention of gully erosion in the future.

The lead consultant Prof. Ekwe Agwu Ekwe who reeled out the NEWMAP result framework as the basis for project sustainability, charged the participants to take the training with the seriousness it deserves.

While delivering his goodwill message, the Hon. Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Victor Adewale Omofaiye, who also doubles as the SSC Chairman, reminded members from Communities of intervention, as well as staff of Line MDAs present of the humongous investments made by the State Government, through the instrumentality of Kogi NEWMAP; hence, the need to jealously guard the legacy projects in a sustainable manner.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Kogi State Ministry of Environment, Barr. A.O Suleiman (mni), who is also the Chairman, Kogi State NEWMAP State Technical Committee, while delivering the Vote of Thanks, added his voice to the Hon. Commissioner’s charge, whilst admonishing all the participants and beneficiaries on the importance of safeguarding the Projects, so much that generations to come would be positively impacted by the legacy projects.

The Project Coordinator, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto thanked His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for his unfettered support over the years; equally thanked the Hon. Commissioner, Min. Of Environment for his unflinching support all through the years.

The Project Co-ordinator further thanked the Permanent Secretary, Min. of Environment, as well as members of the Line MDAs for their support all through the years, without which she noted the success story of NEWMAP would be incomplete.

She encouraged members to translate the same amount of energy and support for NEWMAP to the new Project, ACReSAL, maintaining that the new Project would only succeed if all stakeholders present a united front in the implementation.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of Certificates to participants, as well as working tools (Branded Laptops) to staff of Line MDAs.
