The Kogi Central Chapter of the Kogi State Women Empowerment Coalition (KWEC) on Wednesday said it has endorsed the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, for Senate in the 2023 general elections.
In an interactive session with the candidate at his residence in lokoja, the leader of group, Mrs. Abdulkadir Rukayat Ajoge, said her members were delighted to identify with the APC candidate as a foremost leader in Governor Yahaya Bello’s political dispensation, “who is always in the forefront of providing good governance and dividends of democracy to the society.”
Mrs. Ajoge stated that having carefully extolled Engr Ohere’s visionary leadership qualities, forthrightness, and uncommon courage, saying he would surely lead Kogi Central, the state and the nation to greater heights and out of economic peril.
She added, “It is in the light of this, we have come to throw our weight behind Engr. Ohere as we shall be taking the message to every nook and cranny of Kogi Central ensuring that he is voted to emerge as the Senator representing Kogi Central come 2023.
If he becomes Senator, we believe Kogi Central Women will benefit more, which he has demonstrated when he was the former Local Government cum Chieftaincy Boss and Commissioner for Works and Housing. We are supporting Ohere’s candidature because he has impacted the lives of our women who are doing businesses in Kogi Central plus offering scholarships to their children.” Mrs. Ajoge added.
Engr. Abubakar Ohere while responding appreciated and welcomed Kogi State women Coalition (Kogi Central Branch) to his fold. He expresses satisfaction for their efforts at the Grassroots and as for the commendation, he said he is only discharging the responsibilities given to him by his Boss, His Excellency, Alh Yahaya Bello.
He added that his interest for aspiring for Kogi Central Senate is to sustain the efforts of his Boss, Governor Bello by bringing further dividends of democracy to the people of Kogi Central irrespective of LGA, clan, religions and tribes. He pledged never to let them and the entire Kogi Central down and will always do to motivate and compliments their efforts.
