The contractor engaged by the Kogi State government for the rehabilitation of Kabba Township roads, CCECC Nigeria Limited, has been mobilised to site.
With that development, work will commence shortly, Information Commissioner Kingsley Fanwo, said in Lokoja, the state capital.
Key members of staff of the company who arrived in Kabba announced their readiness to commence work immediately during a visit to the Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi in his palace.
They were led to the palace by the Director, Civil Engineering in the state Ministry of Works Simon Oguche.
Those on the contractor’s side included the Personnel Manager, Horace Cao, Project Manager, Mr. Lyu and the Surveyor, Mr. Yuan.
While introducing them to the monarch, Oguche sued for maximum co-operation of the people of the town to ensure the quick completion of the project.
The spokesman of the company said the firm had a global reputation for timely delivery of top quality jobs, even as he assured that subject to the availability of all the required facilities, they would meet the timeline stipulated in the contract document.
The Obaro said the people of the town were anxious about the quick completion of the project.
He said the people were accommodating and kind to strangers, promising that he would not be surprised if some of them could opt to settle down in Kabba at the end of their assignment.
Oba Owoniyi said the commencement of the project signaled the beginning of the transformation of Kabba to make it live up to the dreams of the people and meet the demands of the 21st Century.
He, on behalf of his people, thanked Governor Yahaya Bello and other top government functionaries who made the award of the contract a reality.
The government had, last week, released the sum of N377.6 million to the contractor following which Governor Bello directed the firm and others paid mobilisation fees for projects in the three senatorial districts of the state to mobilise to site and start work immediately.
The Kabba township roads project is expected to be completed within 12 months.
