INEC Announce 18 Presidential Candidates ( See full list, Pictures)

INEC had earlier announced that only 18 political parties would contest the 2023 general elections. Based on media reports, the INEC compiles a list of parties that have announced their flagships at the time of publication.

 

Adewole Adebayo (SDP)

 

Adewole Adebayo, the founder of KAFTAN TV, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the 2023 general elections at the party’s national convention held in Abuja.

 

 

2. Atiku Abubakar (Social Democratic Party)

 

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket by winning the highest number of votes in the party’s primary election held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on May 28.

 

Atiku was Nigeria’s vice president from 1999 to 2007 under Olusegun Obasanjo’s presidency. He tried unsuccessfully to become president five times-in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, and 2019.

 

3. APC’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu

 

Former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has emerged as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 primary elections held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in Abuja.

 

Tinubu is a two-time governor of Lagos State and a former national chairman of the party. He was also a senator during the Third Republic.

 

 

 

4.Christopher Irene Imumolen (AP)

Professor Christopher Imumolen is running for the Consensus Party presidential ticket in the 2023 general election.

 

Imumolen is the founder of the non-profit non-governmental organization Joint Professional Training and Support International Limited and the UNIC Foundation.

 

5. Dumebi Kachikwu (ADC) Kachikwu.

 

 

 

Dumebi Kachikwu, the founder and executive director of Nigeria’s Roots TV, became the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the party’s presidential primaries held in Abeokuta on 9 June.

 

Kachikwu defeated Kingsley Moghala to take his seat.

Kola Abiola, the eldest son of the late Moshood Abiola, became the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) candidate after being elected in the party’s primaries.

Malik Ado-Ibrahim, son of Ohinoja from Ebiraland in Kogi State, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).

 

Malik is a businessman and founder of Reset Nigeria and One Team Arrows A20.

10. Omoyele Sowre (AAC) Sowore

 

 

 

Omoiele Sowore has resigned as national chairman of the African Action Congress to become the party’s presidential candidate.

 

Sowore is a Nigerian human rights activist, democracy fighter, and founder of the online news agency Sahara Reporters. Sowore has previously stood as a candidate in the 2019 elections.

 

 

 

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (PNPP), 11th

 

 

 

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano State, has been endorsed as the presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) for the 2023 general elections.Kwankwaso,

 

a former governor of Kano State and the only presidential candidate, was elected as the PNPP candidate.

 

12. Peter Obi (LP)

Former Anambra State governor Peter Obi has emerged as the Labour Party’s flagbearer for the 2023 presidential election after Pat Utomi withdrew his candidature at the national convention and presidential primaries held in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on May 30.

 

Obi joined the LP soon after he gave up his membership in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and withdrew from the party’s presidential primaries. He was an aide to former Vice President Atiku for the 2019 general elections.

Sunday Adenuga, a businessman from Ogun State in southwestern Nigeria, won the Boot Party (BP) presidential ticket in the 2023 general election in the Boot Party (BP) primaries on June 7.
